__________
Asphaltum (tar) is a printer's medium used to coat plates in the printing process. Making these paintings is like a dance between control and allowance and is a fascinating place to work.

This body of work is the result of a focus on the expression of the "bridge" between the vital forces of the metaphysical impetus of an object, idea, or feeling and its resultant earthly manifestation. The process of creating these drawings and paintings begins by relating to the non-physical source which provides the structure, translating that source through gestural means, and responding to the forms that develop. Each
work is the result of constant motion between spontaneous, intuitive movement and detailed, analytical refinement. That place which is "in between" the intangible and its materialization is very exciting for me.
"From the source, through the senses, to life on the picture plane."
"Art is standing with one hand extended into the universe and one hand extended into the world, and letting ourselves be a conduit for passing energy.
-Albert Einstein
